Hotel & course information

Hotel les Astéries, Ploemeur

Hotel les Astéries, Ploemeur

Approximately 5k from Lorient centre and Larmor Plage, the Astéries is a welcoming, modern hotel with a pleasant restaurant that has a good local reputation. The decor is cheery and bright, the staff are friendly and helpful, and there is free Wi-Fi.

With a generous buffet breakfast and two 18-hole courses within 7k, excellent shopping possibilities and superb nearby beaches, what more could you ask for? Hotel parking (limited) approx. 5 euros/night or free public parking nearby.

FGB004 Golf de L'Odet Golf de l'Odet

Golf de l'Odet, Bénodet

Three miles from Bénodet, this course has been created out of more than 250 acres of woodland. It provides excellent golfing for amateur and pro alike with large bunkers, lakes, long fairways and dense woodland. On the second hole, there are enormous pine trees in one of the bunkers, which have to be cleared by a good approach shot.

A 9 hole course serves as a warm up prior to playing the main 18, and during 2012 the clubhouse had a major facelift and offers excellent facilities.

FGB005 Golf de Cornouaille Golf de Cornouaille

Golf de Cornouaille, La Forêt Fouesnant

Designed by the renowned golf architect, Fred Hawtree, part of the course's charm is the frequent choice the player must make between the safety shot and the daring strike.

Undulating fairways are expansive and good use has been made of water hazards, bunkers & woodland throughout the course, which has been designed incorporating the natural beauty of the area. The clubhouse, an 18thC converted manor, is known for its relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

FGB007 Golf Ploemeur Ocean Golf Ploemeur Océan

Golf Ploemeur Océan, St Jude

Although a relatively short championship course, it is known as one of the toughest courses in southern Brittany. The natural seaboard landscape offered great scope to the designers. This links course has many large pot bunkers, sloping fairways and eight of the beautiful 18 holes have water hazards.

In the winter the wind off the sea turns this into a very challenging course indeed. Following your round take a drink on the terrace and watch other golfers struggle with the 18th hole or enjoy a meal in the modern clubhouse.

FGB008 Golf de Val Queven Golf de Val Quéven

Golf de Val Quéven, Lorient

Designed by Yves Bureau and built on agricultural land, the Quéven-Lorient course runs alongside the river Scorff, skirting woods and crossing valleys and is only minutes away from Lorient town.

It is a hilly course, with a great variety of holes, featuring several dog-legs with well-positioned water hazards. The greens are in very good shape and there are some unusual hazards including a tumulas which is a mound of earth and stones raised over a prehistoric grave. The clubhouse is warm and welcoming and has panoramic views.

FGB006 Golf de Brest Iroise Golf de Brest Iroise

Golf de Brest Iroise, Landerneau

Certainly one of the most challenging courses in Brittany and ranked 13th in all France. Built on high ground, the course is thoughtfully laid out with a variety of holes, some of which are very long.

The fairways tend to be tight and the rough can be punishing, but beginners can warm up on its 9 holes before tackling the full 18. The course now also boasts a superb clubhouse which provides a great venue to relax after your round on what is a challenging course.
