Regional bus services

In addition to the SNFC bus service to rural areas, Normandy also has a number of private bus companies serving the region. These are especially useful for local and some cross-country journeys. Larger towns will usually have a bus station (gare routière), quite often situated next to the train station. However, not all these private companies will use this station as a base  - indeed you're liable to spot them departing from a variety of different pick-up points. The local tourist office will be able to help with the information you need.

Regional bus services in Normandy include:

Bus Verts du Calvados:  a comprehensive network serving the whole of Calvados department.

Société des Transports de Normandie (STN): a service covering the entire department of Manche. The major towns all have regional offices.

SETU: a regular service covering the city of Evreux and surrounding districts.

TCAR & Metrobus: serves the city of Rouen and surrounding areas.

Bus Océane: A service covering the city of Le Havre and outlying districts.

Getting to Normandy

Brittany Ferries sail daily throughout the year from Poole to Cherbourg in the west of the region, and from Portsmouth to Caen in the east. We also provide a fast ferry service from Poole to Cherbourg with a crossing time of just 21/4 hours during the summer period.

In addition, our Portsmouth to St Malo service, although arriving in Brittany, will still deliver you little more than half an hour's drive away from Mont St Michel. Together these services ensure that, wherever you are planning to holiday in Normandy, you will never arrive more than a short distance away from your destination.
