Ile de France holiday guide

Everyone knows of the many wonderful attractions and sights that Paris can offer. And just outside the city, for full-on family fun, there’s the Disneyland® theme park. For quieter moments there’s also the magnificent Versailles Palace and wonderful château at Fontainebleau.
Activities & attractions:
What can we eat?
Meaux mustard, Brie cheese, and in Paris every cuisine under the sun, from traditional bistros to McDonalds.
What can we drink?
In Paris the choice is endless, and best enjoyed on the outside terrace of a café whilst people watching.
Where can we visit?
Paris for its many sights and shopping opportunities. Fontainebleau. Versailles - go on a Sunday and see the fountain display, complete with music.
What can we do?
Forest walks. Wander around art galleries. 'Bateau mouche' cruises on the river Seine which is magical by night.
And what about the kids?
Take them to the fairytale world of Disneyland, the African safari reserve at Thoiry or Parc Astérix.
Region overview:
Just say the name Paris and it immediately conjures up visions of the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, Notre Dame and romantic night time boat trips along the Seine. However, many believe that the true spirit of Paris is to be discovered in the city’s Latin Quarter, which given its many pavement cafés and absolutely unique ambiance, may well be true. It’s well worth a visit just to make your own mind up.
But there is much to explore and enjoy outside of the French capital too. The fabulous palace and gardens at Versailles will take your breath away with their opulence and beauty, while in complete contrast and guaranteed fun for all the family is the magical world of Disneyland®. There’s also a splendid château at Fontainebleau, and the vast forest surrounding this offers wonderful opportunities for walkers, cyclists and even rock climbers.
