Sailing schedule altered for convenience of Irish holiday makers

Brittany Ferries has announced today, 10 November 2004, that sailings from and to Cork in 2005 will revert to the original sailing schedule which proved so popular over 25 years with Irish holidaymakers. These sailing times allow lots of daylight travelling time to get to the Cork and Roscoff departure points and still make the most of holiday time abroad.

Departures will be from Cork on Saturdays at 17:30 arriving in Roscoff at 7:00 on Sunday. Return sailings will depart from Roscoff at 22:00 every Friday evening and arrive in Cork at 10:30 on Saturday.

Those wishing to beat the school-holidays rush next year can order a copy of the 2005 Ireland- France Ferry Guide of French Holidays Collection brochure by phoning 021 427 7801.

The Cork -Roscoff route is covered by the Pont Aven, Brittany Ferries newest, largest, fastest and most luxurious cruise ship.

The Pont-Aven’s facilities, which up until now have only been found on cruise ships include:

  • pool and bar areas with panoramic sea views and surrounding leisure facilities
  • wide choice of restaurants and bars, tea rooms and bistros
  • a wrap-around promenade deck for a brisk, early morning walk
  • a central, five-deck atrium with panoramic lifts
  • two cinemas showing the latest films and stylish shopping malls with low tax prices
  • live music and dancing for the adults and special leisure areas for teenagers and kids

As with everything else on board, cabin accommodation will be  of the very highest level. All 650 cabins match any good hotel and will be air-conditioned with full en suite facilities. All, apart from standard cabins, have flat screen TV and comfortable seating. The luxurious Commodore cabins will feature wide patio doors that offer panoramic views and lead directly onto your own private balcony.

The Pont Aven is also the fleet’s quickest vessel – a maximum speed of 27 knots has allowed for a significant reduction in crossing times, a decrease which will get Irish passengers to holiday France faster than any other ferry company.
